Chengfang grew up in Harbin, the famous “Ice City” in northeastern China. He is a student in the “3+2” program co-sponsored by Zhejiang University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he spent the first three years in China working on his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and the last two years in the U.S. for his Master’s Degree.

Covert-Inspired Deployable Structures for Separation Control and Gust Alleviation

Chengfang joined the BAM lab in 2016. His research focuses on adaptive systems, design optimization, and morphing structures. He will continue to explore his interest in these areas for his PhD studies.
